Writing Experiences and Goals

Writing is one of the most important thing in my life, especially in school. Writing for me is a good way to express feelings, create facsinating stories, wonderful poem, and much more. My writing isn't the best writing but it's alright. but my writing progresses everytime i do writings like this. I love writing biographies, especially about me. I've been writing for almost my whole life and i love doing it.

My goals for writing is to improve more because i want my writing to insprire, fascinate, or amuse people. This is because no one wants to read boring writings. My goals will take some commitment and hard work to accomplice but it is not a problem for me.

  1. Hi Leo,

Glad to hear that you have the commitment to achieve your writing goals. That commitment is probably the most important element in success in writing—the willingness to work at it and to apply your learning to the work that you do!

Here are my comments on your writing pre-assessment: You are obviously a basketball fanatic ;) So it’s a good topic for your writing. What you need to do to improve it is less tell and more show. Most of the paper just talks about your love for basketball. You need to show yourself, one the court, at practice…all of the details that would bring the game and your part in it, to life. Instead of explaining, “with a lot of practice I eventually got the hang of it” provide the specific, sensory detail that would show you at practice, working to master those shots.

For your idea bank: Your goal statement says that you are committed to improving your writing…this incomplete idea bank, however, would not be a good example of commitment…the various activities that we do in class are all targeting the final writing product. Complete the activities and you help yourself to succeed in the end product; ignore them, and you put your writing at risk.
