Growing up as a teen I always thought that failing was never a good thing or something to be happy about. Every time I experienced failure in school, sports, and hobbies, I was always disappointed or upset. Failure to me was basically not acceptable. When I have a task, duty, or responsibility to carry out, my mindset was failure is not an option, no matter what. For example, taking a test, I hate failing tests. That’s why whenever I take I test I try my best to pass. People don’t look forward to failing but, little do people know, failure is inevitable.
Once I realized that failure is always going to happen, I changed my mindset into turning failure into a necessity. To do this, I thought about successful people, like professional basketball players, dancers, and wealthy businessmen. I imagined their long journey into becoming what they are now. They didn’t just become successful just like that. They endured challenges and obstacles and not all of those challenges and obstacles were easy to pass. They probably failed on the way to success.
Success is not an easy task to achieve. On the way to success failure is bound to happen. Everyone is not successful at first but with determination, hard work, and commitment success is possible. I remember when I first started to play basketball for a public league. I was one of the most terrible basketball players on the team. I hardly got to play, and when I played I would always fail to score when I had the chance. But I told myself I will one day be one of the starting players and score points. Two years later I played for the same league and progressed so much, that I became the starting point guard.
Failure to me is a great motivator. Whenever I fail, it just motivates me to do better. Like when I get a bad test score, I try my best to raise that grade up or make up the test. I also learn from my failures. When I fail at something, I try to find a solution that can lead me to my goal, which is success. I believe that failure is the key to success.
